The role of literature articles in the second language teaching has led to fierce debates in the field. Some people think that the literature articles are not suitable to train the learners'communicative capability, while the others claim that those articles has positive effects in language teaching because of their standard language, rich content and lively images. As far as the author is concerned, at the advanced level, the literature articles provide the learners with abundant language input, enhance their interest in the target language and also help them understand better of the target culture.Taking the literature articles in the Chinese textbooks that published from 1990 to 2009 as the researching object, which aim at Overseas Chinese Learners of Advanced level, with the theory guidance of theoretical discussion,qualitative analysis and quantitative analysis as an assisting method, the paper would study the adaption situation of the literature articles in the textbooks. The proportion of the literature articles, the era of the authors and the genre of the literature would be quantitatively analyzed and a deep observation would be made to study the variables of these factors in the chronicle order. The result of the study reveals that the number of the literature articles in the textbooks has a fall-and-rise tendency. The proportion of the modern writers is rising, including that of the female writers. Also the articles become more various in genres, replacing the novel dominance before.With the vigorous development of Teaching Chinese as the second language, the number and background of the learners who come to China to learn Chinese has experienced a huge change. The Chinese-speaking-background students have taken up a growing proportion in the advanced-level students. The Chinese-speaking-background students have their own features compared to other foreign students. They are more or less exposed to Chinese culture before, thus has an advantage in listening, speaking and sense of language during the language learning. They also have better understanding and receiving capacity of the language than the non-background students. But they have their own disadvantages, such as the more intense culture shock and the negative influence on their pronunciation from their parents'dialectContent-oriented teaching method, based on the Krashen's theory, focus on both the meaning and form, emphasizing teaching based on the content, aiming at the maximum of "understandable input".The textbook has play a crucial part in the second language learning. Different opinions are summarized and concluded in the paper on how to compile a more suitable textbook. Based on these opinions, the writer of the paper has pointed out principles such as modern, standard, connect, profound and inspirational. Hopefully, these principles can serve as the guidance for future textbook writers.
