System science and reform of' Pmode of thinkingAbst r actThe modern sc ience and technology revolut ion is comprehensive andcompl ex and has a deep and wide response to the whol e wor ld, Whi ch beganfrom 1940's. System science is the major achievement der ived from therevo l ut ion. W i th the re j ect ion of the concrete cont ent and mat er i al shape,System sc ience looks on the sub j ect invest igated as a system and reveal sthe common l aw of the substance and process from di fferent aspects, whi chembodies the basic character of the revolut ion and has wide rasee ofappl icabi l ity. It has transformed the mode of thinking, which is moreprofound than any others. This paper wi l l take up the fol lowillg threepart s one by one, whi ch are system centra1 theory, comp lex pr inciple andnon--1 inear thinking. They are di fferent but closely relat ive.The system cefltral theory most ly talks about the relat ionship ofstructure and funct ion. Throllgh the ana1ysi s of di fferent branches ofsystem science, we found they main1y stress on the relat ionship as thefoundat ion of epi stemology. Through the analyses of the relat ionshipwi thi n the key el ement s of system and of the rel at ionship between systemand envi ronment, the l aw of subject can be grasped. The character breaksthrough the hinder of factor central theory, makes people transfer theobservat ion from emphasi z ing on key el ement s themse lves to there1at ionships of them, from part ly iso1ated analysi s to systemcomprehens ive ana l ys i s, rea l i zed the change from e l ement cent ral theoryto system central theory. The complex principle is a methodology4principle and embodies the character of system science from anotheraspects. The siInPle pr inciple has ever been a great success, which hadt aken an important ro l e in the sc ience and technol ogy deve lopment beforethe 1950's. The principle st i l l has the universal appl icabi l ity today. After the l950, s, branches of modern science are cross and mul t ip1e,whi ch are poundi ng at the t radi t iona1 sci ence structure. System sci encealways based on the compl ex pr inc iple, since the methodology pr inc ipleof sc ience research transferred from simpl i f icat ion to complexi ty. Iti s very important and effect ive to solve the complex system prob1ems,such as l i fe system, social system and human brain system. The third partof the paper is about non--l inear thinkiflg, the origin of the funct ionof system sc ience. From l inear thinking to non--l inear thinking, systemsc ience al so obeys the methodology pr incipl e of science research. Thenon--l inear mechani sm has c lose rel at ionship to the comprehens iveness, order ing and se 1 f--organi zat ion.The science and technology revolut ion prometed the format ion of themode of thinking in some epoch, it was al so restricted by the mode ofthinkiflg. System science is the product of the mode of thinking, i t canal so produce the new thinking mode. They can give impetus to each other. The resul t s have permeated the domains of the social l i fe. System sc ience -has provided new methods, new ideas for people to acknowledge and reformthe world, given ful 1 play to the scient if ic adVancement and socialdeve l opment.
