A Study On Chinese Prepositions "Wang" "Chao" "Xiang | Posted on:2004-01-01 | Degree:Master | Type:Thesis | Country:China | Candidate:M Yu | Full Text:PDF | GTID:2155360092493308 | Subject:Linguistics and Applied Linguistics | Abstract/Summary: | PDF Full Text Request | The systemic studies on the prepositions "Wang", "Chao", "Xiang" are not too rauch.But,the viewpoint that prepositions"Wang", "Chao", "Xiang"can express the directions of movements has been widely accepted-But many objections exist in these few studies which have systemically study these three prepositions.In the first three parts,the author compares the verbs, sobjects and complements which are modified by these three prepositions.And the paper analyses the defferencs on the dymamic and the aspect of these prepositions. This paper also puts forward the point of view that "Wang" emphasizes displacement,"Chao" emphasizes direction, "Xiang" emphasizes objection.And the author think that preposition "Chao" doesn't possesses the meaning of object which has been widely accepted.In Chinese^nany empty words are transformed from substantives.The transforming course is "empty words grammaticalize".During the course,the meanings of substantives still influente the meanings of the empty words.In the fourth part ,the author compares the defferent meanings of verbs "Wang", "Chao" , "Xiang":"Wang" means "go","Chao" and "Xiang" means "face".But in the ancientry Chinese,"Xiang" can express object.In conclusion,this study is believed to resolve many problems in TCFL(Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language) and Chinese Information Processing.
