Guanzhong market in Shaanxi was an important regional market during the Qing dynasty. Based on the historic facts, the dissertation explores the development of Guanzhong market and analyses existing problems. It offers some valuable historic experiences for the present development of the market and the market economy in Guanzhong in Shaanxi.This dissertation includes six parts. The first part expounds the process of Guanzhong market during the Qing dynasty. The second part: Guanzhong market is divided into high-class market, medium-class market and low-class market. Furthermore, the function of the three-class market is indicated. The third part sorts merchandise market in Guanzhong during the Qing dynasty. Moreover, this part indicates the characteristics of the merchandise market, such as there being a lot of primary products that were made in Guanzhong and commodities that were not made in Guanzhong. The whole backwardness of handicrafts in Guanzhong led to these characteristics of merchandise market during the Qing dynasty. From the angle of the factors of production, the fourth part analyses the land market, capital market and labor market in Guanzhong during the Qing dynasty. From a perspective of the overall Chinese market, the fifth part explores Guanzhong market interaction with Northwest China market, Jiangnan market and North China market during the Qing dynasty.From the angles of the economic structure, institution, ideology and culture, by combining with Guanzhong market during the Qing dynasty, the last part explores the causes the market economy in China could not fully develop in the Qing dynasty.
