In this thesis, we focus on the emergence & ellipsis of DE in Chinese adjcetival modification, which is the hotspot and also the nodus in Chinese grammar research. Firstly, we make a detailed statistical investigation into the distributing of DE in the disyllable adjective modifications, based on the Chinese novel corpus and medi-language corpus. The result shows that.for the disyllable itself, 1.3% disyllable adjcetives can't be followed by attribute-marker DE when they function as a modification 31.2% must take DE and 67.5% is random whether taking DE or not. And for the modification structure itself, 36.6% disyllable adjectives don't take DE and 63.4% take DE.We argue that mechanism of the emergence & ellipsis of DE concern with so many factor in language system, including: degraded attribute;different sentence functions; objectivity/subjectivity grade of adjective semantics; information structure of the head-noun; rhythm conventionality of modification structure. We also make a comparison between the results derived from two different corpuses, which make me find that the highest error rate come to the VPdeXH type when foreigners use the attribute-marker DE. Whereas this modification type is just the highest rate in Chinese novel corpus, and also the main factor which decides whether DE is taken or not. So it is necessary and vital to enhance the research in TCSL.
