Chinese Opera is formed along with the long-term development of Chinese nation and China's society, and is the product of long-term accumulation. Chinese opera culture as an integral part of the culture of the Chinese nation, with its unique styles, distinctive open, integrated, harmonious, conceptual and so on, ranks in the Forest of Chinese culture, with a high artistic value. With their own characteristics, more than 300 types of local opera, closed to the humanities, reflects the dialect features, and the customs and habits of local culture. To promote cultural diversity and inherit regional culture, for the university students, there is a definite sense of studying local opera. This paper consists of three parts: a preamble, the body, and the conclusion. The preamble summarizes this selected topic research origin, the significance, and draws out the body. The main text consists of three parts: The first part describes the significance of local opera into college public arts classroom. The second part deals with the feasibility of local opera teaching in colleges and universities. The third part elaborates the local opera teaching methods, acquired in the personal teaching practice. Literature research and analysis, teaching practice, interview and survey analysis are mainly used in the writing. Writing points are the students' intimate effect and identification, taken as the teaching cutting spot, to the local culture, dialect characteristics, local conditions and social customs in the home and the attending university; meanwhile, starting from the local opera, elementary opera education is offered to the college students. Through this kind of attempt, making this ancient be more likely to be accepted and loved by the university students, and through the study of local drama students establish the concept of love and heritage opera. Sums up the teaching experience, explores new ways, and systematically acquires the local opera teaching methods, being more satisfied with the results. It is a bold exploration to local opera teaching in regular institutions of higher learning.
