Academic circlespay close attention tothe development of verb-complement construction allalong, and about the Chinese history, they mainly talkes about the engendertime and the development of these sorts verb-complement construction.The research of Chinese history is based onthe studyof dynasticChinese. This thesis describesand analyses allexamples of verb-complementconstruction in Gao Seng Zhuan, trying to bring to light the trait of it, andprovide more materials to the research of early stage verb-complementconstrution.This thesis classifies the verb-complement construction of Gao SengZhuan into the resultive complement, directional complement, complement of"De(得)",state complement and degree complent, quantitative complement,place complement,human and matter complement on meaning. This paperincludes five chapters.The firstchapter is preface, including two parts. The first part easilyintroduces the Gao Seng Zhuan,the writer and edition. The second part talksabout the definitionof verb-complement construction, and the goal of thisstudy.The second chapter is re sultive complement, inciuding three parts. Thefirst part introduces several standpoints about the emerging time andsourse of this verb-complement construction. The second part talks some ownviews on above questions, mainly including below points.①Theverb-complement constructions of Liu Chao Dynasty are phrases.②Grammatical means' rising brought about the vanish of distinguishingmeanings according to voiceless and voiced sounds and causative mood, and the emerging of verb-complement construction quickened this disappearing.③Judging a shape is juxtapose constructionby inserting an "Er(而)" isfalse.④Separate form of the verb-complement structure isthe counterpartof the bound form without any relationship between themin origination. Thethird part is statistic and classifing description of verb-complement inGao Seng Zhuan. This part classifies resultive construction into two kindsand describes sortly on the feature of complement and whether it has.object. Lastly, we carries on semantic direction analysis and comparinganalysis.The thfrd chapter is directional complement, including two parts. Thefirst part easilyintroduces some standpoints about the emergingtime ofthis verb-complement constructionand appoints on that it emergedin XianQin Dynasty. The. second part analyses the examples in Gao Seng Zhuan by thestandard of directional verb acting as directional complement, and carrieson comparing analysis.The fourth chapter is complement of "De(得)",state complement anddegree complement, including three parts. The first part introduces thegrammaticalization of "De(得)". The second part analyses the examples ofcomplement of "De(得)" in Gao Seng Zhuan. The verb-complementconstructions lingking by "De(得)" wasn't emerge in Gao Seng Zhuan, butthe shape that "De(得)" acts as complement has turned up. The ancient booksof the same time have the form of "V+De(得)+quantitative phrases'.So, wethink, the word "De(得)" has formalized auxiliary word in Liu ChaoDynasty. The third part analyses thestate complement and degreecomplementof Gao Seng Zhuan. We belongs the complementsthat linked with "Ru(如)""Ruo(若)" and explain supplementty thestate of predicate to statecomplement, and returns the complements that is at the back of adjectivesand the verbs expressing mentality and feeling to degree complement.The fifth chapter is quantitative complement, place complement,humanand matter complement, including three parts. About this part, we justintroduces main usages of this three sorts of complements.
