The modal word "la" is very frequently used in modern spoken Chinese.Based on the previous research results,this paper attempts to classify the modal word "la",summarize the characteristics of each type of the modal word "la",analyze the function of the modal word "la" from the perspective of context,and finally propose the teaching strategy of the modal word "la" from the perspective of teaching Chinese as a foreign language.So this paper is divided into four parts:The first part summarizes the previous studies on the modal word "la" from the three aspects of its origin,significance and teaching.And the theoretical basis,research methods and corpus sources of this paper.The second part classifies the meaning of the modal word "la" in discourse communication,and then adopts the method of semantic feature comparison."Slight complaint","emphasize the situation has changed","persuade comfort","express strong emotion","increase the acceptability of negative tone" and "kindly urge".In the third part,by summarizing the meaning of the modal word "la",this paper analyzes the context in which the modal word "la" is used,and verifies the functions of the modal word "la" in these contexts,and concludes the pragmatic functions of "la" such as "discourse makers","negotiation promotion","negative information correlation" and "implied continuous communication".The fourth part,based on the analysis of the modal word "la",gives the teaching strategies of "la" from the perspective of teaching Chinese as a foreign language.
