Russian ethnic group is one of Xinjiang's ethnic groups. They came to China in Gold Tent Khanate Time. Jirjak people are the first one who settled in Xinjiang with a large number. From then on, hundreds and thousands of Russians came to Xinjiang. The number reached it's peak in the Republic of China period. They were called"guihua"people at that time. It was in 1935, they were formerly acknowledged as one of Xinjiang's ethnic groups by the government. After the P.R.C. established, they changed their group name"Russian"instead of"guihua".Because lacking of historical material, there are few researches about Russian Group in Xinjiang. Questions like the management organizations towards Russian people,nationality,"guihua"army and its'garrisons,economy and social affairs etc. haven't been researched deeply. The author uses the historical material that can be collected narrates Russian group's transfer waves,management organizations,"guihua"army's organizational system and comfort towards veterans,economy and social affairs and education in the Republic of China period. This article aims at revert the real history, show the original economy and social life of Russian Groups in Xinjiang."guihua army garrison"is the high light of this article. At present, there are few researches about this field. According to the collected material, this paper analysis the reason,feature,process and result of"guihua army garrison".The conclusion is that"guihua army garrison"solves the problem of settlement of veterans. It didn't cause any turbulence and made great contribution to Xinjiang's stabilization at that time. Combined the above narration, the author analysis Russian group become one of China ethnic groups'reason. At the end of this paper, there is a summary about Russian group's social life in the Republic of China period. The author hopes that this paper can contribute to the constitute of ethnic polices.
