The Study Of Loan Quasi-affixes In Modern Chinese

The production of the loan quasi-affixes which merges the morphology characters of Chinese and English, manifests the language contact's influence on the modern Chinese word formation. Recently, the affixization of the new words has caused attention of many linguists. The research on the loan quasi-affixes will not only benefit the exploration in the affix system, but also helps us to reveal the word formation's particularity and universality of the two languages deeply, so it can be instructional to our English studying and the teaching of Chinese as a foreign language.Based on the language contact theory, the paper studies the development of the loan quasi-affixes, including defining the loan quasi-affixes according to their common usages and the main research achievements; making a simple summary and a inspection on some of them; studying their word-building situations from semantics, pragmatics and their relations with analogy; analyzing the correspondence relationship between the loan quasi-affixes and their English forms from four aspects; generalizing the reason of the loan quasi-affixes'population from three aspects, including language'developing environment, the internal mechanism of the language development and the people's psychology mechanism. In the research, we compared Chinese and English and paid attention to their identities and differences in the word formation. In the terms of method, we combined the depictions and explanations together, the synchronic and diachronic studies together, and tried to make a relative general research on the loan quasi-affixes in modern Chinese.
