The Saturday, which had 200 volumes in all, founded in shanghai, June 1914 and finally published in February 1923. Until 1980s, few researchers was aware of the high value of studying in the most typical public literature journal in the beginning years of the Republic of China——Saturday. This paper took the Saturday as the object, through lens of novel type, to illustrate the cultural style of its contents.Although, there were different categories of the love story in Saturday, the most popular novel conclusion was the tragic ending. The emotion of that time, the state of marriage, the aesthetic concepts, and so on all accounted for this outcome. In the Republic's chaotic turmoil, writers of Saturday created lots of patriotic novels, expressing their "allegiance" attitude to the nation. While in the other important type of Saturday story - social ethics stories, writers used some wonders to indoctrinate readers, expressed their attitudes to the"filial piety","etiquette " and"justice ". In addition, Saturday also published a lot of translated foreign novels. Through the translated foreign novel, Chinese writers saw the difference between traditional Chinese and foreign novels and embarked on a new novel exploring road of creation.In general, more novels in Saturday expressed the authors'personal expression of the cultural and moral attitudes to warning people through leisure, while there were still many works purely for entertainment.
