Mandarin Duck and Butterfly school is an important school of chinese modern popular fiction, but for a long time duing to the criticism and crowding of the May Fourth New Literature, its importance had not been given adequate attention. In recent years, although the situation has changed a lot, but most scholars still use the standards of new literature to study Mandarin Duck and Butterfly school, mainly from the value of literary artistic, the depth of thinking, narrative structure to explore, and for the uniqueness of Mandarin Duck and Butterfly school’s fiction, such as commodity, entertainment and population, they are given inadequate attention, which is obviously unfair for Mandarin Duck and Butterfly school.This thesis is from the opportunity of Mandarin Duck and Butterfly school’s Birthstone-the formation of commodity literature market as the breakthrough point to study the creation of Mandarin Duck and Butterfly school’s novel under the mechanism of commercial literature. So the thesis provides a reasonable explanation for the birthstone, development, prosperity of Mandarin Duck and Butterfly school and the entertainment, recreation, the public nature of Mandarin Duck and Butterfly school’s fiction, and thus it reveal the rationality and importance of the existence of Mandarin Duck and Butterfly school.The thesis is divided into three chapters, the first chapter introduces the formation of commodity of Mandarin Duck and Butterfly school’s fiction, including the formation of the literary market of goods and the emergence of the professional writers, the formation of the mass of readers, the emergence of free competition. The commodity of Mandarin Duck and Butterfly school’s fiction decides it in writing to the public consumption as its standard of creation view. The second chapter from the vocabularies and the text to study, inducting the text features of Mandarin Duck and Butterfly school fiction under the guidance of the above, such as using story-telling style phrases, extensive using of the verbs, daily life vocabularies’using and the description of the scenes of everyday life, and timely using text example to analyze the differences in language using between the Mandarin Duck and Butterfly school writers and New Literature writers. The epilogue is a simple and fair assessment of the historical significance and practical significance of the Mandarin Duck and Butterfly school. It has extraordinary significance for the development of the diversity of modern Chinese literature and contemporary popular literature.
