The teaching and learning of writing in English has been perplexing English teachers and students for quite a long time. It is hard not only for teachers but also for students to deal with, especially in vocational school. Writing is one of the most difficult parts in English teaching and learning. In order to explore a new way of solving this problem, this thesis proposes that the application of Interactive Approach in writing teaching.The aspects of theoretical basis run as follows. First, elaborate the necessity of social interaction from psychological aspect. Second, interactive language teaching is based on Brown H.Douglas's 12 principles. Third, interaction is what communication is all about. Writing involves the writer-text-reader interaction.On the basis of the theory, the paper introduces different classroom organizations: class writing, group writing, and individual writing. Class writing can let students build confidence of success. For the small-group writing, the same techniques as in class writing may be used, except that the students work in small groups, producing brief compositions, which they can then write on the board for the appreciation of their classmates. Having moved from class writing to group composition, the students are now ready to fly on their own and undertake sustained individual writing. According to different classroom organization, teacher can use different writing techniques, e.g. brainstorming, free-writing and peer-editing, etc.To compare the teaching effect of the interactive writing with that of the traditional approach, the writer makes an experiment. The subjects of the experiment are the students of two natural classes with one titled as the experiment class and the other the control class. Before the experiment, their writing level has no significant differences. In the experiment, the control class is instructed under the traditional writing approach, and the interactive writing exploited in the experiment class. After the experiment, the students from both classes take the post-test. The analysis of their writing scores shows that the teaching effect of the interactive writing is better than that of the traditional writing approach. After Therefore, the writer suggests that the interactive writing be adopted to the teaching of English writing.This thesis consists of six chapters. In the Introduction, the author introduces the current situation of English teaching and the reasons for carrying out interactive writing. 1n Chapter1, the author gives a brief review of the writing teaching and interactive teaching at home and abroad. 1n Chapter 2, theoretical basis, the author mainly introduces the definition of interaction, principles of interaction, roles of the interactive teacher and types of interactive writing, etc. In Chapter 3, the author introduces the process of the experiment, and the statistics and analysis of the data. In Chapter 4, the author analyses the collected data, and makes a brief discussion on the data. The author makes a conclusion on the results of the experiment, and demonstrates the limitation of the interactive writing as well as the direction of future research. In conclusion, the author makes a brief conclusion of this thesis, showing the value and meaning.
