A Study Of The Two-Syllabled Verbs In Huai Nanzi

As a great works appearedin early years of the Han Dynasty, Huai Nanzi traces to its sours the Various schools of thought and their exponents during the period from pre—Qin times to the early Han Dynasty. Vocabulary of Huai Nanzi, especially disyllabic word inherits the past and ushers in the future.This paper can be divided into two parts:Part I: In this paper, the light of previous research results, using the methods of qualitative analysis from the grammar, vocabulary, rhetorical aspects of analysis, determined the criteria to determine polysyllabic words.In this standard, based on Huai Nanzi in the structure of two-syllable verb way constitute a relationship between the meaning of morphemes, and so part of speech analysis is summarized. At the same time, quantitative analytical methods, has made a number of statistics.PartⅡ: From the grammar point of view, the distribution, combination and serve as the components of sentences of the two-dyllabled verbs in Huan Nanzi are analyzed by statistics and some conclusions are came to. The "Huainanzi" double-syllable verbs grammatical features are revealed. Some characteristics of two-syllabled verbs of "Huainanzi" are shown.Through research, the conclusions of this paper is as follows:First, from the syntax type of two-syllable verb , the coordinated-type is maximum, followed by biased-positive type (but far less than the joint-type). Subject-predicate type, verb-object type and verb-complement type are moving the small number .The most universal constitute of the two-syllabled verbs in Huai Nanzi is the constitutes of "verb + verb - verb", "verb + verb" constitutes is a major part of two-syllable compound verbs in this speech.Second, the phraseological funcion of the two-syllabled verb in Huai Nanzi is very powerful. The two-syllabled verbs of Huai Nanzi can not only combinate directly with each other to form a functional element of a title, and could serve as a subject, predicate, object, attribute, such as sentence elements; at the same time, it can be combinated with a lot of ingredients, such as with the noun, verb, adjective, adverb, pronoun, numeral, noun phrases and some other phrases, indicating a strong combination of capacity. Last, two-syllable verbs in Huai Nanzi can also serve as a sentence components, it could serve asthe basic element of the sentence, such as subject, predicate, object, attribute, adverbial phrases. It shows the strong ability of the two-syllabled verbs of serving as the sentence component.
