The study of this thesis focuses on Xueling Chenshi which locates in the suburban area in the southeast of china.Through revealing this small lineage how to flexibly use all sorts of resource to adapt the urbanization and changes in the contemporary social environment,the author tries to disclose the modern adaptability and vigor of a small lineage in the urban area.A special case study was chosen in order to represent all sorts of tough endeavors are made by this suburban area's lineage,The thesis consists of six chapters.In the introduction part the author states the origin of this thesis,the reviews of related academic studies of urban lineage,and also the thesis's adoptive study method.For convenience of further discussion,in the second chapter the author introduces the fieldwork location Xueling,which include the economic status of this area,the encounter of urbanization of this lineage.The theme of chapter three focuses on the relation between XueLing Chenshi and the development of Xiamen,and we also talk about how the ancestor identity of this lineage was constructed during this process.Chapter four mainly discuss the renaissance of Chen's Lineage,which includes their reconstruction of ancestral temple, besides the author also states Chen's lineage how to forge the genealogy of their lineage,the property of this lineage,the reconstruction of their tradition.In chapter five the author reveals the Chen's lineage protects the LongYuan temple in their local place,this fact is chosen to interpret a small urban lineage's confrontment of modern urban society and how to strive for their living rights.In the final part of this thesis, the author concludes that the small lineage sometimes has a better flexibility to adapts to the change of social environment in the state-society.To strive for their living rights, this kind of lineage can be adaptive by changing their specific strategy,although their influence and strength are less than those big lineages.
