Study On The Production Of PPT Courseware In Foreign Language Teaching

With the constant developments and improvements of the computer technology, more and more multimedia courseware are being adopted by foreign language teachers and this has become an inevitable trend in foreign language teaching. However, according to my observation and the study of related references, the application of the multimedia courseware, especially the PPT courseware, in foreign language teaching didn't work so well as people expected. On the contrary, because of the mistakes made in courseware production and application, the PPT courseware has become an obstacle which hinders the foreign language teachers from improving classroom instruction.By analysing the PPT courseware collected from a distance education college, the essay points out the existing problems and proposes suggestions. Take the courseware Translation of News Language for example, I find out the weak points and explain how to improve the courseware in the hope of giving other foreign language teachers some references when designing a PPT courseware.Firstly, the essay, reviews relevant studies on PPT courseware and its application in foreign language teaching, makes a brief introduction about the current situation of PPT's application in foreign language teaching in China.And then, it analyses the collected courseware and classifies the problems into technical ones and instructional ones. Based on the instructional message design theory and the comprehensible input theory, it proposes suggestions to make improvements.Finally, take a specific courseware as an example, by comparing the original with the improved one, it explains how to design and produce a courseware that makes full use of PPT's advantages to assist foreign language teaching.
