Self-esteem that affects human cognition,motivation,emotion and behavior is an essential component of self-one system.University students is a special group, because their psychological functions have not been stable,and they face with the enormous changes of the surrounding environment,the role of status,habits and learning styles.Now the study of their self-esteem is a universal focus.However, after studying the research literature related to self-esteem,it is found that there are no research on self-esteem development from the viewpoint resilience.Under the guidance of resilience the study of self-esteem can expand the field of self-esteem and is a challenging task.This study applies resilience theories and methods to research the self-esteem of university students and examine the role of the assumption that the protective factors and risk factors on the development of self-esteem of university students with a view to promote the research of self-esteem.Study procedures:First,students and teachers of the Southwest of the University are chosen to interview and the tools include interview outline of students and teachers.The purpose of the interview is to understand the basic situation of self-esteem of university students.Then,base on home and abroad theoretical and empirical study we advance self-esteem of the protective factors and risk factors that form the basic assumptions of this study.Second,students of four University in Chongqing are chosen to survey and survey questionnaires include "Self-Esteem Scale(SES)","Social Support Rating Scale","Self-Efficacy Scale" and the list of risk factors.Finally,SPSS13.0 is used for statistical analysis of data to verify the basic assumptions.Study concluded that(1)Individual,family and school influence the self-esteem development of university students;(2) the self-esteem development of university students is influenced by grade and born in city or in countryside,and it is not relate to sex and profession;(3)Poverty,Unhealthy,parents divorce,strained relations with fellow students were main risk factors threaten self-esteem;(4) Social support could preferably forecast self-esteem development of university students;(5)Objective support,subjective support and the degree of using support may forecast self-esteem; (6)Self-efficacy could preferably forecast self-esteem development of university students.
