The intermediate level is the skillful period of communicative ability. During this period, foreign students have mastered a certain amount of words and some basic grammar rules. The gift of tongues developed from the beginner's level to advanced level, which means the language ability has became a verbal habit and action. The intermediate level is also the main intergrades. It takes on confirming old words, at the same time; it undertakes enlarging vocabulary and prepares for using sound words to express oneself in advanced level. Comprehensive lessons are the key course which takes the main responsibility of lexical teaching. It's regarded context is very important in learning language. Learning words in a context can fix on the exact meaning and know its usage. Therefore, it is easy to memorize and good for learner's interests. In this thesis, four steps and suggestions for teachers and students are put forward by analyzing the context theories which is used in comprehensive lessons and discussing the setup and principles of context in Comprehensive Lessons of Intermediate Level in TCSL. There are 5 parts in this thesis. The first chapter is to introduce the question for discussion and the research methods. The second chapter is to make clear some concept in context theory. According to the purpose of TCSL, several factors of context are discussed in particular. The third chapter mainly takes comparison. The purpose and contents are clarified by compare the teaching aims of 3 levels, teaching elements and different lessons. The fourth chapter is the main part of this thesis. The procedure in comprehensive lessons of intermediate level in TCSL is brought forward: Introduce new words by cite sentence in the lesson; Create a context and explain new words; Practice new words by purposeful output; Confirm new words in accordance with lessons. Then gives some suggestions to teachers and students, which is guidance to practical teaching. The fifth chapter is the conclusion.
