Idiom is a treasure in the Chinese culture. As the essence of the Chinese language, idiom bears the wisdom and culture of the Chinese nation, thus it is an important standard to measure the Chinese level of foreign students. In an education with Chinese as a second language, the teaching of idiom has an important status. During the learning process of idiom, the first step is to correctly understand the meaning of these idioms. However, teaching of"phrase"(including that of idiom) hasn't drawn much attention. Studies on idiom semantics are even less. Therefore, students'understanding of idiom is not ideal.This paper starts from the error analysis of idiom semantics, and summarizes the characteristics and reasons of the errors generated by idiom semantics, and proposes corresponding suggestions.This paper includes the following six sections:The first section emphasizes the importance of idiom teaching in the teaching of Chinese as a foreign language. It also briefly introduces current situation of idiom semantics teaching as well as the research methods used in this paper.The second section conducts statistics analysis on the 377 idioms collected from Chinese writings of Korean students. Based on the analysis and combined with related literature, this paper roughly divides idiom semantic errors into six categories: unclear semantics, divergent semantics, repeated semantics, contradicted semantics, unclear semantic emotions and inappropriate idiom style.The third section conducts a survey to further understand and determine the difficulties for students to learn idiom based on the concluded error types, and summarizes the idiom semantic error characteristics of the Korean students.The fourth section starts from two aspects of idiom and idiom outlines as well as the influence of language tests and reference books, analyzes the reasons of idiom semantics among the Korean students.Based on the idiom semantic error types of the Korean students, combined with the error characteristics and reasons.the fifth section provides some suggestions to the teaching of Chinese as a foreign language, and emphasizes the proposal of"separation between word and phrase".The sixth section makes conclusion of this paper.
