High school period is the last developing period before being mature. The growing of character and personality in this stage would directly influent student's psychological state in future. The rural senior high school students are a important part of school students, so that their mental health cannot be ignored. Social anxiety mainly originated form adolescence and youth(13-23old),which is a serious psychological problem that have a high incidence, big harm and last for a long time.The purposes of this study are to understand the situation of rural senior high school student'social anxiety by investigation, and explore effective psychological methods to reduce the level of student'Social anxiety through some experiments.This research is divided into two parts. The first part wants to investigate the basal situation of social anxiety by using Social Avoidance and Distress Scale to investigate 518 rural senior high school students. The second part is an intervene research on social anxiety of rural senior high school students. Intervention study includes group intervention study and individual intervention research. Based on the first part, there are 24 senior high school students are selected as subjects on intervention study.The 24 students are devided into experimental group and control group at random. During the daily teaching, the experimental group accepted cognitive behavior group intervention for eight weeks, and the control group received no intervention. Three scales (SAD,ATQ and PET) were used to estimate the interventional effect. The client of the individual intervention was a senior high school student with social anxiety. The student received ten weeks psychological therapy, and the therapeutic effect was confirmed on questionnaire, self assessment and other observations.After the study, this dissertation draws conclusions as follow:1. The senior high school students in social anxiety is about 32.05%;2. Social anxiety in rural senior high school students has no significant gender difference;3. There is a significant discipline difference in different discipline, students of liberal arts have a higher level of social anxiety than students of science;4. There is a significant grade difference in different grade, the junior is highest, senior is higher, the sophomore is lowest;5. Cognitive behavior group intervention can effectively reduce the level of social anxiety. The subjects received group intervention obviously improve the horizontal of personal evaluate and automatic thoughts in the meantime. The efficacy of cognitive behavior group intervention has certain timeliness.6. Individual intervention study indicates that cognitive behavior intervention have similarly effectiveness in social anxiety that caused by cognitive distortions.
