A Study On The Kinsfolk Appellation Terms In The Water Margin

'The Water Margin" occupy extremely important position on China and world history of literature. The novel takes fluent spoken language as basis.The language is distinctive vivid and close to life, which make it a milestone of Chinese vernacular literature.The novel cotains many Kinsfolk Appellation Words,Reflecting our patriarchal system, social style, customs and other aspects of etiquette. So far,the academic have researched some content for The Water Margin's appellation words,but they didn't study these Kinsfolk Appellation Words for a comprehensive description.In this paper,the author statistics 173 Kinsfolk appellation words of The Water Margin and researches these words by combining their static and dynamic studying.In the last of the paper, The paper discuss kinship appellation's extension in The Water MarginThis paper is divided into five parts.The second chapter to the forth chapter are the focus of this paper.The first chapter introduces the definition of the kinsfolk appellation terms, the value of the kinsfolk appellation terms'study,the main fruits and methods of the research.In the second chapter,the author overviews The Water Margin's kinship terms classifies all kinds of kinsfolk appellation terms in it and computes the number of occurrences.In the three chapter, on basis of the classification, the author descripts The Water Margin's Kinship appellation terms through theory of word-building and find that compound is the main word-building methods and takes a dominate status. At the same time,The modifying method is the most important word-building method of kinship terms in The Water Margin. By comparing the kinship terms with the ancient and modern Chinese,we find semantic content of some kinship terms have increased, decreased or transfered.In the forth chapter, From the dynamic perspective, the author discuss kinship appellation's extension in The Water Margin, its characteristics, the causes of formation and pragmatic functions.The fifth chapter is the conclusion part, the author summarizes the main points made earlier, and points out some defects to be improved.
