The Kangxi Dictionary plays an important role in ancient China. It has a high value and position in Chinese history, which has a deep influence on generations. All the characters of the Kangxi Dictionary are included in the Grand Chinese Dictionary. The annotations of the Kangxi Dictionary are the explanatory note added by the author in the process of compilation. The content of the annotations has important value of study, which not only is the important supplement to the main body of the dictionary, but it also reflects the Chinese research levels and achievements, and has important research value.In addition to the brief introduction of the Kangxi Dictionary and the editors, this thesis studies the content of the annotations. Firstly, according to explanation of the forms, pronunciations and meanings of characters, annotations can be divided into four categories, form, pronunciation, meaning and the relations of the three. Then compared with the Grand Chinese Dictionary and other relevant dictionaries, the thesis presents the positive and the negative effects of the annotations of the Kangxi Dictionary upon the modern dictionaries. Because the researches of annotations on Kangxi Dictionary are not enough, there are some values to the compilations of the modern Chinese dictionary afterward.
