By using the theories and methods of economics, urban science, tourism science and sustainable development, the author defines urban tourism and competitive power of urban tourism strictly and makes deep researches on influential factors, structures, functions, mechanism of operation power, evolution phases. According to some principles, index system of competitive power of urban tourism is set up. AHP method is selected to evaluate competitive power of four cities, which are Zhengzhou, Beijing, Xi'an, Nanjing. The author compares competitive power of Zhengzhou tourism with other three cities' from several levels to find the problems of Zhengzhou tourism and puts forward the measures to improve competitive power of Zhengzhou tourism.Besides preface and conclusions, this thesis consists of five parts.Part one is basic theories The basic concepts of urban tourism and competitive power of urban tourism are defined .Based on using "diamond" model of E.point, the author sets up a "competitive power of urban tourism" model.Part two is research progresses of competitive power of tourism at home and abroad. In the light of time sequence and research subjects, the author concludes research progresses of competitive power of tourism and puts forward three problems in the research of competitive power of tourism in our country.Part three is to analyze systematically competitive power of urban tourism. Under the guide of system ideology, the author defines competitive power system of urban tourism and analyzes six influential factors of the system, such as resources, economical conditions, science and technology, talented person of tourism, tourism demand and tourism enterprise of urban tourism .On the basis of generalizing and classifying the factor, "structure of competitive power of urban tourism" model and "comprehensive measurement" model are created. Economical functions, socialfunctions and cultural functions and mechanism of operation power are made an inquiry into .At last, the author sums up characteristics of four competitive stages, which are resources, produce and sale, capital strength and innovation of urban tourism.Part four is to evaluate competitive power of urban tourism .On the basis of concluding evaluation theories of forefathers, the author probes on principles, guide ideal, contents of evaluation, creates index system from competitive achievements, potential competitive power and supporting power of tourism environment of urban tourism. AHP method is selected as a key method to evaluate competitive power of urban tourism.Part five is about study of cases. Based on the analysis of current situations of Zhengzhou tourism, The author makes analysis on influential factors of competitive power system of Zhengzhou tourism. Compared with Beijing, Nanjing and Xi'an tourism from competitive achievements and potential competitive power, supporting power of tourism environment and comprehensive competitive power of urban tourism, competitive power of Zhengzhou tourism is evaluated. Then five problems happening in the development of Zhengzhou tourism are found. According to the problems, five corresponding measures of improving competitive power are put forward at last.
