During practicing in "Zhejiang Jiaxing Ruitong Shipping Limited Company" and "Shanghai Filiale Jiaxing Office of COSCO", Author compared the two companies and had some opinion.The operational mechanisms of market for shipping companies, environmental conditions and technological basis in the E-commerce environmnet have been changed heavily, as the same, the changes of shipping companies operations and management environment would greatly influence shipping company management. Thus, how to apply E-commerce to shipping company aiming at shaping new company competitive advantages is the urgent problem that shipping companies like Ruitong Ltd. have to face.For this, it is nature that author puts forward three fundamental problems, which are "what is a shipping company E-commerce", "why Ruitong Ltd. develops E-commerce" and "how Ruitong Ltd. implements E-commerce". About the three fundamental problems, in this paper, the author has constructed a research framework in which the theory of trade costs and the theory of business process reengineering are united, trying to combine the latest research achievements of net economy with the E-commerce application fruits and problems all over the world together, and systematically considering the challenges of E-commerce that we are facing. In this paper, author has attempted to summarize the developing measures of E-commerce in Ruitong Ltd. by applying the theory of marketing a business process reengineering in the view of combining the competitive strategies of Ruitong Ltd. with the features of E-commerce.First, in this paper, the author has researched the theory of E-commerce aiming at the problem of "what is the shipping company E-commerce". On the basis of defining E-commerce, author analyses the content, characteristic and status in quo of shipping company's E-commerce, expecting its developing trend.Aiming at the second fundamental problem, the author systematically analyzed the invigorative power of implementing E-commerce for Ruitong Ltd. at the two aspects of driving and stressing, through which the author draws the conclusion of the transferring certainty of E-commerce for Ruitong Led.Around the problem of "how Ruitong Ltd. develops E-commerce", after analyzing the whole developing status and the lag develop causes in Ruitong Ltd., author puts forward the developing layers of E-commerce and the models of developing E-commerce in Ruitong Ltd. Furthermore author constructs ESMP analytic framework in which Ruitong Ltd. could select its own E-commerce model. When Ruitong Ltd. concretely develops E-commerce system, it can take advantage of the software engineering method. To ensure Ruitong Ltd. to implement E-commerce successfully, it is necessary to reengineer the operationalprocess and to establish new organization and structure fitting for E-commerce.Ruitong Ltd. is typical among shipping companies in our country. Researching the development E-commerce of Ruitong Ltd. will give reference of how to develop E-commerce to similar shipping companies.
