Established in the early 1990s, the theories of corporation reengi-neering and of core competence are still very much alive. With our country about to enter the WTO and with the increasing marketing of the environment for competition, to implement corporation reengineering will become a way of sharpening the competitive edge of our country's enterprises. In the recent years many enterprises, at home and abroad, have set about implementing corporation reengineering to combat environmental pressure and enhance their competitiveness, but in some enterprises reengineering schemes have met with set backs or even outright failures. In my opinion, corporation reengineering must center around and may at the same time boost, an enterprise's core competence. This paper is divided into three chapters.Chapter One: Corporation Reengineering. This chapter analyzes the background against which 'corporation reengineering'was proposed, delimits the related concept s and expounds the nature, precedent and principles of corporation reengineering, laying the groundwork for the following two chapters.Chapter two: The Role of corporation Reengineering in Boosting an Enterprises core competence. This chapter first describes the theories of core competence.lt mainly analyzes the role of core competence in corporation reengineering and the latter's impact in boosting the former. Many propositions in this part are novel and they elucidate the dialectical relationship between the two theories through a combination of theorizing and positivist analysis.Chapter three: Corporation Reengineering as Based on core competence.Part one presents an in-depth analysis of the core process of reengineering and puts forth some measures.Part two contains a minute analysis of the ways of pursuing reengineering, maintaining that knowledge alliance, enterprise simulation and learning-organization are avenues to reengineering realization.
