Different thinks about farmland grading will directly lead to different processing courses and methods. By doing many works of data processing on farmland grading, the author concludes two processing courses and methods. By a brief discussing on them, the author finds the defaults of the first method, which evaluates farmland grades based on different land rents theory, and separate them in quantity compulsively. On the contrary, the second method determines farmland grades by practical land natural quality, exploiting level and profit. The author thinks the second method is more preferable because it is more fit for practical situation, and can reduce complications of the farmland grading tasks.Subsequently, the article discusses the second method in detail in three aspects. First, the author enumerates several typical grading models and summarizes their superiorities and defaults. Then, a new grading model is put forward by the author, in which not only the own situations of grading factors but also the combinative situations of different grading factors are considered. In this article, the former is calculated as geometric mean, and the latter is obtained as their sum. The farmland grade is confirmed by geometric mean of the two parts. On the base of the grading model, the article discusses the important effects of farmland grading course, and the whole grading processing.Thirdly, the author implements a farmland grading Information System. The system selects the new grading model as farmland grading method, component Geographic Information System (GIS) as developing means. The developing environments are confirmed as follows:GIS Component: MapX4. 5 by MapInfo Corporation.Programming language: Visual Basic 6.0 by Microsoft Corporation.Database: Access 2000 by Microsoft Corporation.The Information System integrates and manages all the data used in grading work, which can make grading work more easily and clearly. On the other hand, many processing on trivial details are finished by computer, which arises the efficiency of the grading work greatly. The system's main functions contain graphic data processing, attribute data processing, and the maintenance of grading factors, grading exponent system and grading model.At last the Author builds a grading exponent system according to the current status of Kelamayi, farmland grading regulations and some experts' advice, then verifies the grading model and Information System with the farm land of Kelamayi based on the new grading model and grading Information System. The result coincides with practical situation well.At the same time, the article also has a deep study on some important problems in grading work, For example, the application of Delphi method, the importance of factors, the relations of natural factors and social and economic factors.In a word, the article is benefit for farmland grading in theory studies and practical grading work.
