Self-efficacy is the self-evaluation of one' s capability in executing a particular task in certain situation. Studies show that one' s self-efficacy determines his performance and accomplishment directly. The self-efficacy of the lower-rank army officer here in the present study refers to the army lower-rank officer' s self-evaluation of his own capability needed in organizing soldiers in various activities. With the principles and techniques of psychometrics and statistics, the study intends to explore the inner structure of the self-efficacy of officers in lower rank, which is believed to be beneficial to the scientific assessment of their integrated qualification, and thus improve their self-efficacy efficiently.Based on a theoretical analysis of the self-efficacy of the army officers, questionnaire and site interview and with factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis, the thesis probes the inner structure of the self-efficacy of the army officers in lower ranks. The result of the study shows that the self-efficacy includes two factors: efficacy of virtue and efficacy for supervision. The lower-rank officers' self-efficacy is the self-judgment of the capabilities of guiding the soldiers with virtue and supervises the army strictly in various soldier activities. In the study, we have worked out the inventory of the lower-ranking officer' s self-efficacy. The factors that affect their self-efficacy are also explored and discussed with the multiple linear regressions in the study. We find that the officer' s general efficacy as well as some other factors contributes to the self-efficacy of the officer. In addition, discrepancies of impacting factors exist among officers of different ranks. This study also discusses the relation of their self-efficacy to their style of guiding the soldiers and to the stability of their mood. It is found that the three aspects develop in accordance with the promotion of the lower-rank army officers and the years they spend in the army.
