The competitive intelligence (CI) is a process about the monitor of competition environment and market presentiment, the analysis of rivals and the competition strategy making. It is a new information concept springing up from the US and Europe countries, with the tide of globalization and the development of information technology.First, the thesis presents a general statement of the theory study of the competitive intelligence, including the basic concept, the basic features and the main contents of the competitive intelligence. Then by introducing the latest developments of the competitive intelligence in the world, the thesis points out that the competitive intelligence is playing a more and more important role in the international competition. However, the development level of the competitive intelligence in China is largely left behind. Besides, with China's accession into WTO, the Chinese enterprises are facing an increasingly fierce competition. Therefore, how to develop and apply the competitive intelligence in China is an important subject demanding deep research and exploration.Through an intensive study of the development and application status of competitive intelligence in China, the thesis figures out some problems in the current circumstances as well as the roots of the problems. Aiming at these problems, the thesis puts forward some corresponding solutions and tactics for reference.In the final part, the thesis sums up the experiences and key factors in setting up a Competitive Intelligence System for Chinese enterprises (CIS). And then the specific steps of building the CIS are also elaborated.In conclusion, this thesis is hoped to provide some correlative references for Chinese enterprises to understand and apply the competitive intelligence, and thus to sharpen their competitive edges in the international market.
