Innovation is a very important issue during the establishment of socialist market economy. Today Innovation had become upsurge in China. The government released a series of policies and measures to encourage and support the innovation in the enterprises. Many experts and specialists in universities or research institutes made a research on innovation. Also, innovation in the enterprises had made considerable results.Nevertheless, there were several weak links in the practice of innovation management in the enterprises. The most important problem was a tendency of generalities and the lack of deep research of innovation ability in the enterprises, which expressed as the lack of effective innovation management methods aiming at different enterprises and the lack of radical improvement of internal mechanism that influences innovation ability. As a result, innovation became a mere formality.First, this paper analyses the main conflict between management mode of modern corporation and environment, and the main characteristic of knowledge economy, describes some thoughts and views that related to BPR, discusses the implication and its origin.Second, the paper introduces the concept of innovation ability in the enterprises, analyses its formation mechanism, describes the internal law of innovation management, thus points out the feasibility of improving innovation ability through BPR.Third, the paper takes ChongQing HaiHua Bioengineering Co. as a sample, makes a research on innovation management through the theory of BPR and the theory of learning Organization,starts with visual angle of process reengineering, organization reengineering and culture reengineering, discusses how to improve innovation ability in HaiHua Bioengineering Co., summarizes some innovation management method and tactics.Finally, the paper analyses and summarizes the fact of process, structure and culture that influence innovation ability in the enterprises, makes ittheorization as well as giving some advice to those enterprises of the same kind. Practice proves that, BPR has highly directive function in improving innovation ability in the enterprises. Yet, due to immature of BPR and difficult definition of innovation ability, some concepts and conclusions remain to be discussed. I hope all of these problems will be perfected in some day.
