The significance of the development of small towns has been studied in detail since the 1980s. It is well accepted that that small towns play an important role in the urbanization of Chinese cities. With the realization of the great development of the Western Region, the west small towns should explore the right way to narrow the gap between the west and east. The slow development of the west towns greatly influences the progression of urbanization. With the rich natural resources and industrial advantage, how to develop the west small towns by learning from the east is far-reaching.This thesis, first of all, gives a brief introduction to the development growth of China small towns, including its features characteristics, problems, advantages and disadvantages. It also establishes the theoretical framework of regional economy development models. The regional economy development model is made up of natural resources, geographical factors, population, financial resource and technology. Together with some variables such as historical factors, cultures, domestic policies and interaction with other areas. All the factors work together to establish the regional development model. In the last part the writer first overally analyzes the geographical condition resources, the state of development in order to find out some ideal models for southwest small towns. And then compare it with the east economy models. And based on all the analyses, the writer continues to make a mathematical analysis of the town network by applying game theory.
