Citrus occupies very imprtant position in both international and local market. It is widely cultivated in the southern areas of China. After China's entering WTO, the situation of citrus trade has been changing, and the competition will become keen. This kind of competition, at the bottom, is based on international competitiveness. Applying compared advantage theory and international competitiveness theory as the rationale, adopting the comparison analysis method, making use of various data, this dissertation researches the international competition ability of our country's citrus, judges the level of international competititive ability of citrus, analyzes the direct and indirect factors that influence the international competititive ability of citrus, inquires into how China's entering WTO influences the citrus industry, and puts forward countermeases and suggestions.Basic conclusions are as below:Only Tang.Mand.Clement.Satsma and Citrus Fruit nes have international competititive ability to a certain degree, and the others have none. The international competititive ability of the common citrus juice is stronger than that of the concentrated citrus juice. The citrus can has very strong competititive ability.Production cost of citrus in Guangxi is lower than that in someplace of the United States. But the material expense of citrus production in our country is over high, which has affected the further reduction of the production costs and the improvement of quantity. All fresh fruits except lemons and limes of our coutry have an obvious advantage in price. The citrus juice has no advantage in price. External appearance of our citrus is inferior, but inside quality is equal to that of foreign citrus. There is strong complementarity in variety structure between our country and foreign counties. But our country lacks both the special varieties for processing juice and the new varieties of our own intellectual property. The style of our counry entering the international market is so behind the times that competitive brands are deficient.The operation scale and way of our country's peasant household (producer) restrictthe international competititive ability of our country's citrus. Operating super small scale of citrus, single peasant household can not guarantee the quantity, and can not lower production costs effectively. The regimentation degree of the peasant household is very lowly, which is obviously disadvantageous to the peasant. There is antagonistic contradiction between "small production" and "big market". Nature resources in our country are superior, but "planting in the right place" should be enhanced. Geography position influences the choice of international market. The labor force resource in our country is abundant, the low cost of which is the source of competition advantage of our county's citrus. The system of popularizing research results can not fit in with the needs of the production. Means of production at low price is beneficial to the reduction of production costs. Capital and infrastructure will still be limiting factors for our coutry to improve the international competitive ability of citrus. The current raw material industry can't satisfy the demand of processing industry, and it can not provide substantive, stable, cheap, and appropriate raw material. Additionally, other related industries also fall behind. The behindhand quantity standard has negative influence on citrus quantity of our country.After China entered WTO, with the tariff descending significantly and none tariff barracks being removed, the competition pressure that our county's citrus faces in the local market are increasing. It is the citrus processing industry especially the orange processing industry that will be affected mostly. To a certain degree, the sweet orange of our country will be affected.
