Production Planning Management In Manufacturing Industry

From 1990s, the consumer requirement feature changed dramatically and the whole world economic activities show the integrated trend. In order to enhance the competitiveness, the manufacturing industry needs to introduce the new management methodology and method to guide the production. Planning is the principal function among the manufactory management. The production planning management is the key part in manufactory management, which can create the most effective productivity. Under the traditional planning model, all departments are disconnected, and the information system and data transmission technology are out of date, at the same time, the manufactory, vendor and subcontractor lack of cooperative relationship in Chinese manufactory. Thus, to study production planning management is significant for upgrading Chinese companies' competitiveness in worldwide market.The dissertation combined the theoretic and the case study. Firstly, it concludes the new economy requirement to the production planning. Secondly, it focuses on three main parts of the production planning: the Master Planning Schedule management, the Material Requirement/Inventory Control Planning and the Capacity Planning management. The dissertation emphasizes not only the enterprise internal harmonization, but also the external manufactories cooperation. Especially, in the Capacity Planning chapter, it combined Motorola actual example to show that the capacity planning is so important to the enterprise strategy setting.In the case analysis part, in the beginning, it introduces the difference between Motorola production planning system SAP/3 and traditional panning system, and emphases the SAP R/3 system can effectively integrated every department planning actitivities. In the production equipment allocation optimization example, it using the Linear Programming theory combined with production status shows the programming objective, condition and LINDO software analysis result. Hope this dissertation can bring some hints to the management team. At the same time, some manufactories such as Toyota, DELL etc. already take the production planning as their strength to win the market. Their experiences support my study in both theory and practice.
