The land suitability evaluation is an important research topic about the overall plan of land use. The evaluation can provide scientific evidence for the analysis of the present condition, the planning of the land use, and for the land exploitation and effective, reasonable land resource use. The paper, taking the overall plan of the land use in WuMing county, Guangxi as the research background, studied the theories and methods of land suitability evaluation, analyzed the deficiency of land suitability evaluation in the past. Then the paper suggested and established BP neural network system model to do the jobs on land suitability evaluation.Directed by the theories and the methods of the systematic engineering and software engineering, the writer uses VB, C+Builder language to make the development. As the result, the writer developed a commonly-used land suitability evaluation neural network system (LSENNS), and completed the substantial evidence research about the land suitability evaluation in WuMing. The writer established the evaluation index system and the evaluation criterion of WuMing, supporting by GIS, the writer completed the substantial evidence research about the land suitability evaluation in WuMing county by making use of WuMing' s soil diagram, the present land use diagram, along with the materials of the land investigation and the data of soil analysis. At last the writer give some suggestions on how to use the land correctly. The findings indicate that LSENNS based on the combination of the geographic information system, the computer technique and the neural network is scientific and feasible. It is a commonly-used decisive method and tool, thus it can provide a theoretical science for the coming second time land construction and prospective planning.
