The Contribution Of Waterway Transportation To National Economy

As an indispensable part of modern transportation system, waterway do tremendous contribution to the progress of economy, society and the increase of International trade. Waterway Transportation interacts with other industries of National Economy in different degree and different way for its service essence. Thus, it's not easy to calculate the economic contribution of waterway.Input-output theory is one of the most important tools to study the impact and relation among industries of National Economy. This theory is easy to understand and its calculation is not complicated. However the premise of calculation process input-output table needs lots of statistic work and skills. In this paper the latest National Input-output table is used flexibly, we make it more suitable to serve in the quantitative model. Moreover this versatility is successful base on the calculation result.The beginning of this paper analyses the importance of waterway and state its status; In chapter 3 and chapter 4, the value of some index is worked out; After that, some qualitative analysis is given in chapter 5;Finally some elementary conclusions are drawn, meanwhile the end of this paper points out some deficiencies and the orientation of future research.
