While the achievement in constructing socialism with Chinese characteristics has attracted the worlds' attention, the imbalance between east and west China in economic development has already imposed negative impact on completion of socialist market economy, utilization of the advantages of socialist system, implementation of the strategic objective of sustainable development, development of ethnic culture, solving ethnic issues, and maintaining border security and social stability. This economic phenomenon - the economic gap between east and west China - results from the integrative action of many factors, such as history, geographical location, ethnic culture, economic system and policies. Therefore, measures are to be taken, such as improvement of the comprehensive quality of western population, favorable policies and legal support, new economic boosting sectors, socialist market economic system reform, and the enforcement of co-operation between east and west, to narrow the gap between east and west economy, achieve a sustainable, stable, and balanced development of national economy, and eventually realize the objective of all-round construction of a comparatively well-off society and the great revitalization of Chinese nation.
