The economic environment is nowadays experiencing a revolutionary changing, which heads for so-called knowledge-based economy and society. Whether corporations, micro-organizations in economic surroundings, have the ability to adapt their strategies to the wave of changing will determine their surviving and thriving. It is predictable that competition is the fundamental living status of businesses. For them, to realize competitive advantages constitutes the basic strategic goal. Because of the environmental revolution, however, nature and practice of competitive advantages will surely be different. Such difference is what this thesis addresses.The article applies historical research methods, somewhat unique in the competitive advantage research field. The author believes that understanding the history will benefit to precisely grasp the future. Not confined in the research history of corporate competitive advantages, this article researches the development of the advantages from the beginning when market competition became the general and universal mechanism. Conclusions include the forward moving theory of competitive advantages, and the new viewpoints of various strategy theories.Based on the mentioned historical research and referred with mature management theories, tools and technologies, the diamond type system of corporate competitive advantages is proposed. The predictive, dynamic, and self-motivated system can be used in the knowledge-based era in a practical way. The theory of this article provides an alternative method for business running.Finally, some case studies in the thesis illustrate and provide evidences for parts of the conclusions. Considering local problems of China, the article makes several pieces of suggestion.
