From Special Economic Zone To A Metropolis: A Study About The Development Of Shenzhen

Twenty-five years of economic growth has transformed Shenzhen from a small sleepy fishing village into a thriving urban metropolis since China's reform. This change makes Shenzhen to be a metropolis and not a Special Economic Zone. However, there are many new problems which should be dealt with.This paper, by the theory of urban economics, makes a perfect analysis of the development from Special Economic Zone to a metropolis. We think Shenzhen should look it as a metropolis and then deal with its development in the future, such as, how to deal with the relationship of Special Economic Zone and a metropolis; as a metropolis, how to develop itself and how to deal with the relationship of regional economics of the Pearl River Delta; the usage of the land; and so on. Then by the analysis of the development of Shenzhen, we can know more about the development of shenzhen as a city of China.
