Research And Practice On Data Center's Construction Of Bank Of China

As there comes the rapid integration of global finance, the entry of foreign banks into China's financial market will initiate an all-round competition with the banks of China and a tremendous change in domestic business banking environment will occur. The fast development of Chinese economy and information technology (hereafter short for IT) demands a more effective, more convenient and safer financial service. Bank of China has put forward its strategic goal of establishing a first-rate commercial bank with international competing capabilities by deepening its system reforms, perfecting administration and improving internal management. For the smooth accomplishment of its strategic goal, Bank of China has come up with a development plan of data center with its aim at realizing centralized management, decreasing the cost of IT, minimizing financial risk, improving the whole service level and strengthening the core capability of competition. This paper has conducted a detailed and full research on the construction of infrastructure and safety management of data center. The construction of infrastructure includes operating system environment, network communication environment, front platform environment as well as IT service management. The construction of safety management includes safety prevention, safety control and safety management regulations. The construction of infrastructure can build a uniform information platform, aiming at a decrease of maintenance cost, development cost and management cost, thus reducing the all information construction cost of Bank of China. The infrastructure is an important guarantee. In order to provide IT support to 7X24 bank service, it must assure the continual usability. The construction of infrastructure must use for reference the successful experience of the construction of data centers both at home and abroad. It must not only have a certain forwardness, but keep a relative stability. It must adopt advanced and mature technology and have a good performance of extension. For the achievement of a great potential, it must with the help of IT service management system integrate all staff members, machinery and technology into IT service process. To avoid and reduce production risks incurred by data consolidation, data center has to do two things: one is at the technological level to construct a backup center at the same city, a disaster backup center at other cities, enterprise control center; the second is at the levels of management, regulation and process to analyze and minimize risks and establish and perfect safety prevention measures, safety management and safety control management systems for a reliable operation of all businesses. This paper deals with the research relating to the construction of infrastructure and safety management system of data center of Bank of China, which can have a certain guidance and reference to the planning and renovating of data center of domestic commercial banks.
