The purpose of this research is to explore the link between the strategy, firm's internal resources and skills and competitive advantages. The research consists of two issues: the match between competitive positioning and internal resources and capacities; the support of internal resources and capacities to competitive advantages.Based on the investigation into the reality of the S Refrigeration System Service Company, this research analyses two typical affairs, shows the true thoughts and behaviors the firm made in order to develop competitive advantages, finds the way of the firm to understand the relations between the strategy, firm's internal resources and skills and competitive advantages, and discovery the problems the firm met in the course of developing competitive advantages. Especially there are several appendixes in the paper involving records of the investigation, which will provide reference to teaching and researching. The research has three following conclusions. The first, defining its served markets broadly is of little value because the growing firm cannot easily develop enough resources and capacities and apply them to nurture the competitive advantages. Secondly, another mistake the firm made is not to identify and appraise resources and capacities clearly and thoroughly, which will result in the strategy and internal resources and skills mismatch, and bring the loss and waste of internal resources. The third, in that the most sustainable competitive advantages are typically found at the top three levels of the pyramid (operational systems, management systems, and culture) rather than in the products and markets,[22] what is vital to a growing firm is try to strengthen the internal operational and management capacities.
