CITIC International Contracting Inc., established in March 1986, is a wholly owned subsidiary of CITIC Group. The changes of corresponding market competitive environment have taken place during the development of the company. Meanwhile, China's accession to WTO and the economic globalization have combined to undermine gradually the temporary advantages in the field of engineering and construction. Therefore, under the new environment, the priority of the company is to identify strategies for its further development. In this paper, by analyzing changes of the company's external environment and its development course, the necessity of identifying strategies for the company is reasonably presented.The scale, the competition structure and the trend of future development of the international project contracting market are stated and the basic information about the major competitors of the company is provided as well. Then it analyzes in depth the company's current situation of management, financial situation, and human resources, etc. It casts light on the status of the company in the market of project contracting by comparing itself with foreign enterprises and other domestic enterprises in the same field. On the basis above, the opportunities and the threats are summarized, as well as the strengths and weaknesses in competition. Then, three possible strategies for the company are presented and compared. The final favorable strategy – to fully take the advantages of financing from CITIC Group and positively operate the projects and programs in various forms - is selected as a result. Finally some new adjust actual plans are presented according to the selected strategy.The conclusion of this paper is based on the company that is under a kind of strong background of financial platform. The strategy presented by the paper may be something B for those companies in a similar role; and what is more, it may give some instruction to the development of ways of project contracting in its field.
