Juvenile delinquency is a complicate social problem and also the reflection of diversified negative elements in society, among which the influence of the media should not be neglected.In the information era, media have much influence on juveniles because of their special function of entertainment and ideology. But, under the influence of the market—directed economy, some contents in media have drifted off the direction of traditional culture and elite culture and have shown the tendency of subservience, philistine and meagerness. The juvenile physical and mental characteristics determine that the unhealthy information spread by media will have a negative influence easily upon their ideology and behavior, even cause some of them to commit crimes.This paper, consulting the theories and experience in the field of media and juvenile delinquency in and abroad, analyses the existing problems in media concept and contents. It elaborates the four aspects in which media affect juveniles as well, which are as follows: crime reports stimulate the criminal motives, porn information distorts the sexual concept, commercial media encourage the desire to consume and network overturns the moral principles in the world of net. At the same time, it puts forward a general plan for improvement, i.e. to set up the media concept that the receivers are the foremost, reinforce the social responsibilities of the mass media, carry out the multi-department management in media, give full play to the cultivating function both of the school and family.
