As educational correction is becoming the internationally recognized practice in thejuvenile delinquency problems, in order to prevent the juvenile delinquency, the school,which is the important place where the juveniles are educated, is obliged to play a critical role.This Paper focuses on the responsibilities of the school and as well defects in the juveniledelinquency prevention. Supported by Law of the People's Republic of China (PRC) Juvenile Protection(enacted in 1991) and Law of the PRC Juvenile Delinquency (enacted in 1999), withconsideration of the features and risk factors of juvenile delinquency, based on the schoolingpractices on prevention of the juvenile delinquency and researches of the relevant Chineseand foreign documentary databases and cases about the juvenile delinquency, the Paperdiscusses the responsibilities of school and defects in the prevention of juvenile delinquency,by a synthetic and objective analysis from multi-disciplinary facets consisting of criminology,law, criminal psychology, administration and pedagogy in the effort to discover andsummarize the root causes and the main strategies. The contents of the paper consist of five Sections – Section of Introduction and the otherfour Sections of Analysis of Issue. Section of Introduction: Present the background, the objectives and the methodologies ofthe study on the school's responsibilities in the juvenile delinquency prevention. Section One of Analysis of Issue: Analyze the collected typical cases and available studyresults, describe and summarize the status, features and risk factors of the juveniledelinquency. This analysis presents with the emphasis on the main concerns under thecircumstances of the current social development to detail and narrow the study on the mainpoints in the latter sections. Section Two of Analysis of Issue: Analyze in depth the issues of school's responsibilitiesand as well defects. Based on the legal definitions given to the school's responsibilities inLaw of the PRC Juvenile Protection and law of the PRC Juvenile Delinquency Prevention ,and along with the theories of pedagogy and administration, this analysis is patulous ,and inorder to show What Are the school's responsibilities in the juvenile delinquency and WhatAre the Defects during the school performing its responsibilities. Section Three of Analysis of Issue: Analyze the typical causes of the defects of school'sresponsibilities in the juvenile delinquency prevention. This analysis does not work out bystudying every detailed causes, but by sampling in the social reality the typical causes thatresult in the defects of school's responsibilities, in order to disclose the root causes of thedefects of the school's responsibilities. Section Four of Analysis of Issue: Based on the studies in the previously three sections,in accordance to the theories of pedagogy and administration etc., make researcher'srecommendations to the effective performance of school's responsibilities, to give thesolutions to the question of What To Do. The Paper concludes as follows through the analysis in the previously four sections: School education plays a significant role in the juvenile delinquency prevention.Evidently, the school's responsibilities in law are limited. Only if to analysis expand can theschool's responsibilities be properly performed, and thus the juvenile delinquency problemcould be ultimately controlled.
