In this thesis, the author first gives a brief introduction to the Handan Steel and Iron (Group) Company (HSIC). Then from the view of strategy management, the author analyzes the present situation and strategic steps of steel and iron industry, as well as the market situation in China. Steel and iron industry in our country is gaining high output with the cost of low expenditure. However, in this industry, we are not one of the best countries taking the technology into account. Domestic demand of some products with high attached value are still met by importation. China is lack of competitive power in the world steel and iron industry. Low specialization level, small enterprise scale and imbalance of product structure is one of the main reasons. It is also the greatest obstruction to the industry development. Inadequate output as the main contradiction has been solved on the whole. Low market occupation rate is not due to the output but to the irreasonable product structure. On one hand, there are too many ordinary steel products such as wire rod and small-sized rod; on the other hand, there is great lack of steels with high quality and attached value. This thesis tells the strengths and weakness of HSIC by analyzing the operation and management system. It puts a deep analysis on HSIC management and product structure optimization through the establishment of multi-objective program function by the application of multi-objective function theory. The future development objective and specific steps are also proposed in the thesis. Chapter 1: Brief introduction of HSIC development and purposeof writing. Chapter 2: Environment of Chinese steel and iron industry.Chapter 3: Analysis on the competitive advantages of HSIC. Chapter 4: Analysis on product technological system and benefitof some products. Chapter 5: Analysis on the objective and new model of HSICdevelopment.
