The civil servant performance appraisal is an extremely important link in the modern personnel management system in our country. It offers the objective basis for the appointment, the rewards and punishments, salary system and the training of the civil servants, and it has been an important way for the civil servants to improve, develop themselves and for the government to raise the management efficiency. Though the regulation of civil servant performance appraisal appears in the form of "law "at present, it still has some defects in many aspects. The thesis sorts out the course of civil servant performance appraisal after the foundation of the People's Republic of China, also studies the basis and theory of civil servant performance appraisal, and inquires into the design of civil servant performance appraisal system and examination method. Through the analysis on some drawbacks existing in civil servant performance appraisal, the author applied the fuzzy synthetical assessment to civil servant performance appraisal, in order to make it more scientific, just and objective.
