With the high pace of the modernization in urban and rural areas, the remaining labor in rural areas moves to the urban areas on a large scale, which leads to the appearance and increase of left-behind rural children. Left-behind children refer to the children in the period of compulsory education whose parents migrate to cities in search of work for a long time( at least for half a year), leaving their grandparents or relatives or just themselves their guardians. The issue of left-behind children is one of the social issues in the process of modernisation, civilisation and social transformation.By setting up the action research team with the front-line teachers in a rural primary school and conducting the action research in a cooperation way, the study tries to solve the problems put forward by the research partners that the left-behind rural children get low academic performance and have bad learning habits and some other issues. Besides, the study is exploring the effective strategies for improving the left-behind rural children's learning. Meanwhile, by participating in the process of doing action research and experiencing it,the front-line teachers are promoted to do professional reflection and get self grown-up.With the left-behind children in the research partners'school being the objects of the study, the research carries out the action research following the research ideas of bringing up problems, analyzing problems, developing research strategies, practising applying research strategres and doing feedback and evaluation. In order to make the problems more specific and definite and make it effective to solve the problems, we conduct a survey on the left-behind children's present study state, problems and reasons. The survey finds ou that the issues of the left-behind children's study mainly lie in the following four aspects: the negative attitude; bad learning habits; no guidance after class;low academic performance. The reasons for the issues of the left-behind children are various: perhaps it is for such direct factors that the guardians are lack of supervision; maybe it is because of such indirect effects that the lack of normal family education results in the special psychological characteristics of the left-behind children, such as loneliness, inferiority complex and other adverse psychological quality; or it is because schools and teachers haven't paid enough attention to the left-behind children's study. Based on the analysis of the study state and issues of the left-behind children, the researcher develops possible strategies to improve the learning problem of the left-behind children, and uses these strategies in practice by means of home-school links, teachers caring, peer helping, interesting activities and psychological counseling and so on to improve the learning state of the the left-behind children. In the process of carrying out the plans, the researcher observes and records the action, at the same time, the researcher discovers new problems and situation, and adjust the action plan in right time to deepen and improve the research by constant reflection and evaluation. During the late period of the action research, the researcher learns the improvement of the left-behind children's study state and then made a comprenhensive assessment of the effectiveness of the action research by interviewing the temporary guardian, teachers and the left-behind children, observing the left-behind children's academic performance, and referring to the left-behind children's paper and homework. Through designing and conducting the action research, we solve the learning problem of the left-behind children raised by our research partners, improve our research partners'teaching conditions, and promote the professional development of the research partners. However, due to many factors such as the limits of time and space, the deviation in the co-operation, the lack of the data collection and organization, our study has many shortcomings and needs further improving, which become our directions that we will make up and develop in the future research.
