The Function Analysis And Practice Study Of TPL Under SCM

Since 1980s', the third party logistics (TPL) has developed quickly and become more and more important. Meanwhile, with transition of demand of consumers from tangible quality to both intangible and tangible quality, it is very important for members of supply chain to cooperate and ally with each other. According to this kind of alliance, the third party logistic corporation will be integrated into supply chain and become beneficial community to enhance the competence of supply chain.But most of the TPL enterprises in the present market transformed from previous warehousing or transportation firms, which lack the ability of logistics function expansion. Because of the lag of idea, management methods and operation program, the integration of TPL enterprises with supply chain was not smooth, especially when it comes to the upgrading of the ability of supply chain management (SCM).In the beginning of the paper: theory department, analysis mostly the theory of the origin and development of TPL , and the theory of SCM and SCM cooperate partnership, as well as the theory of the combination of TPLand core enterprise of SCM. In the second part of the paper, analysis the function of TPL in improving the SCM competence of the core enterprise, and point out the advantages and disadvantages in actuality, as well as the ideas and advice for improving. The third part of the paper mostly analysis the operation mode of the TPL purchase, and use two typical cases to explain more in the practice part.The paper emphasize:(1) The development of TPL need to involve in SCM cooperation partnership to serve important effect for SCM.
