Research On Evaluating The Performance Of Regional Tourism Industry Based On Rough Set

21st century has witnessed the rapid growth of tourism industry all over the world. Tourism has become a very popular life style among the people. The tourism industry in China has made a great progress since the end of 1970's. Nowadays it has become an important part of economy and culture life of China. At the same time, almost all the regional governments realize the key role of its improving regional economy, and most of the cities add tourism industry into pillar industries in the hope that it can drive the development of the social economy. It is necessary to establish a scientific and feasible regional tourism industry project, which need to evaluate the performance of the regional tourism industry scientifically. Therefore, it is important to choose a reasonable assessing index system and a scientific evaluating method. At present, many scholars have done lots of research on evaluating the performance of the regional tourism industry, yet the index system and the proposed models still have some deficiency. First, this paper analyzes the economic effects of tourism industry and the correlative concepts, and selects tourist business finance, increasing revenue effect, earning foreign exchange effect, improving tax effect, industry correlation effect, employment effect, market scale effect as the classified indexes, then establishes a new assessing index system of the regional tourism industry performance according to the necessary principles. Yet there still exists correlation among the indexes and some indexes are difficult to collect, which causes inaccurate results. Therefore, we introduce the rough set theory, which has the advantage of reducing attributes and eliminating redundant information, and proposed a new model based on rough set to evaluate the performance of the regional tourism industry. Finally, we use the new evaluation method based on rough set to evaluate the performance of Chongqing's tourism industry on the basis of the proposed index system. Then we analyze the result of the evaluation and compare Chongqing with the other provinces in west of China. At last, this paper brings forward some suggestions on how to improve Chongqing's tourism industry performance and boost its development. In this research, a new tourism industry performance evaluation method based on rough set is proposed, which utilizes the rough set to filter the indexes to consummate the index system. This method improved the results'integrality and objectivity compared with traditional methods.
