Logistics, initiating in the US after the world war two and thereafter booming in Japan and the west Europe, is originally introduced into the American company managements. It shines and becomes economically the most attractive and invaluable field in the developed countries, and eventually evolves into a new industry. Since 1970s, logistics is adopted in China and helps the traditional industry, such as transportation, storage turn into the modern logistics mode. In pursuit of the thirdparty source, the logistics departments have turned up independently in some big manufacturers.As an important practice of logistics, Third-party logistics attracts more and more attention of the commercial and industrial enterprises. The benefits lie in its better use of the professional services offered by the logistics companies, which save the enterprises loss of their resources, what's more, enhance their effectiveness and profits. As for the logistics companies, the Third-party logistics is also a breakthrough in unyoking the traditional logistics restrictions and effective approach to explore new fields.This thesis expounds the characteristics, the origin of benefit and value making of the third-party logistics on the basis of the related facts and data, and further explores its internal momentum, consequently rendering the existing problems andenvisioning the future models to be adopted.This thesis highlights the current logistics situation of Nantong Harbor Group and the advantages and disadvantages inside and outside it. It also reveals the development models of the third-party logistics in Nantong Harbor Group and certain feasible ways of operation, meanwhile ends up with the result analysis of the application.
