Human being enjoys now the 21st century, and China is endeavoring formodernity which calls for great notion to the modernization in ideology that takesthe view of public and private as its core issue. The differentiation lies in the view ofpublic and private can be set at some extent as the critical point of tradition andmodernity. Peasants' view of public and private has been continuously evolvingdue to the transformation in rural governance system; furthermore, it even bringseffect upon the achievement of rural governance. It is without any doubt that a studyon the peasants' view of public and private through the transformation of ruralgovernance boasts a high profile theoretical and realistic significance. This thesistakes the perspectives of Marxist philosophy, politics, sociology and history topresent the analysis. Initially, it makes a review over domestic and foreign scholars'literature regarding to the issues of rural governance, view of public and private aswell as peasants' view of public and private, then examines the issues of peasants'view of public and private, which are its transformation in rural governance systemand presents the historical process of formation and development as well as itsconnotations and features through different periods. This thesis then turns toanalysis of the current scenario of peasants' view of public and private of Hakkavillages located at the southwest Fujian Province in South China, and explores theinfluences of achievement of rural governance pours on by peasants' view of publicand private. At the last part, this thesis suggests the dynamic and consistencyrelationship within rural governance and peasants' view of public and private, thustheir good interaction would resulted in "good governance" in rural areas. Therefore,the author claims that a "good governance" in rural governance would be grantedthrough the "transition to modernity" of peasants' view of public and private atthe ideological level, and also through the rural governance system's transformationfrom non-institutionalized to institutionalized outlook.
