| ObjectiveIn order to understand and handle the quality of life (QOL) for the armed police force at high altitude, the factors influencing QOL are to be investigated from the aspects of social support, personality characteristics, coping style, et al., which may provide the scientific evidences for the daily drill, education and being on duty of the armed police force, elevating and ensuring the life quality of the armed police soldier. Subjects and methods1. SubjectsThe QOL and its influencing factors for the armed police force at the high altitude were explored by the way of questionnaire investigation. 530 armed police soldiers in a certain detachment of armed police force in Qinghai province were included in this questionnaire investigation. 516 valid questionnaires could be obtained, and the effective rate was 97%. All the investigated objectives were male and the mean age was 19.80±1.86 years.2. Investigated meansThe investigation applied the World Health Organization Quality of Life-BREF (WHOQOL-BREF), Perceived Social Support Scale (PSSS), Simplified Coping Style Questionnaire (SCSQ) and Eysenek Personality Questionnaire (EPQ).1. Investigated methodsThe investigated purpose and significance were explained for the testers, demanding them to fulfill the questionnaires independently and honestly, to fill in the questionnaire forms in a uniform manner. The data base was established by using the soft of Foxpro6.0, and the statistical software SPSSll.5 was applied. The statistical methods included descriptive analysis, t-test, correlation analysis, multiple gradual regressive analysis, et al.Results1. The QOL of the armed police soldier at high altitude of Qinghai provinceFrom high to low one, the transform scores of the various domains of QOL were physiology (64.01±8.85), social relationship (63.77±11.93), psychology (62.58±9.75) and environment (57.30±9.61).The item score of energy and weary was relatively lowest in the physiological field, and 76.4% of the armed police soldiers had a poor energy. The item score of medicine dependence was the highest relatively in the same field. About 87.6% of the armed police soldiers had a good or an excellent evaluation.In the social field, the item score of heterosexual interaction was relatively the lowest and 56.2% of the armed police soldiers felt so-so or dissatisfied with that. The item score of social support in the same field was the highest relatively, since 77.2% of the soldiers were satisfied or very satisfied with the social support obtained by themselves.In the psychological field, the item score of ideological pillar was the lowest, and only 26.5% of solders considered having an interesting or very interesting life. The item score of passive feeling in the same field was the highest relatively, and only 2.9% of the officers and soldiers often or always had the passive perception. Finally, in the environmental field, the item score of recreational activities was the lowest relatively, and about 9.7% of the officers and soldiers thought they had the chance to undertake recreational activities mostly or completely. However, the item score of social safety warranty was the highest relatively, because 99.2% of officers and soldiers had the medium feeling as to this item.2. The comparison of QOL for the armed police soldiers lived at high altitude of the Qinghai province and other places in china.The results, from the comparison of QOL for the armed police soldiers lived at high altitude of the Qinghai province and other places in china, the QOL scores in other fields had the statistical significance except for that in the social field and environmental field,. In the physiological field and the psychological field, the scores of officers and soldiers at Qinghai altitude were lower than those at the inner places of China.To further analyze and compare the various items in the four domains of QOL for the soldier at high altitude and in the inner places of China, the results indicated that the items had the significant difference except for the pain and dissatisfy item in the physiological field. The other items had the significant difference except for the self-respect and passive perception item in the physiological field. Only the social support in the social field had the significant difference. Every item except for the environmental condition, the chance to get the knowledge and skill, recreational activities in the environmental field had the significant difference.3. The analysis of social support, coping style and personality characteristics for the armed police soldiers at Qinghai high altitude(1) To divide the officers and soldiers of the armed police force in the plateau into less-level group, medium-level group and more level group according to the social support. The less level group of the total social support, internal family support and external family support is 18.6%, 21.5% and 19.1% relatively. The more level group is 19.0%, 17.6% and 17.4% relatively.(2) The positive coping with score of officer and soldiers of the armed police force is (1.87±0.48), the passive coping with score is (1.10±0.56). According to the percentage of coping with ways which the officers and soldiers of the armed police force selected, the most way they adopt is item 6 "insist on the self standpoint, to contend for self wanted" (46.12%). The lest way they adopt is item 17" solve the problem depending on the others" (3.87%). To compare the average application of the positive and passive coping with ways, the officers and soldiers of the armed police force in the plateau is prone to adopt the positive coping with way (27.4%).(3). Personality characteristicsThe exterior and interior dimension of the officers and soldiers of the armed police force in the plateau is (12.80±4.02), nervousness dimension is (6.11±4.33), (Tab 5). To compare the personality characteristics dimension of officers and soldiers of the armed police force in the plateau with the army and the general people in the country, the results show the exterior and interior (E dimension) of officers and soldiers of the armed police force in the plateau is significant high to the army and the general people in the whole country norm, but the nervousness (N dimension) is significant low to the army and the general people in the whole country norm.4 The correlation analysis of social support, coping with ways and personality c haracteristic of the officers and soldiers of the armed police force in the plateau of the Qinghai province(1) The correlation analysis in every field of social support and life quality of the armed police force in the plateau of the Qinghai provinceThere is a positive correlation in the four fields of the total score of social support, the score of interior family support, the score of exterior family support and the score of life quality. Among them, there is a highest correlation in the total score of social support, the score of exterior family support and life quality, the highest correlation in the score of exterior family support and the score of life quality.(2) The correlation analysis of every field in coping with ways and life quality of the armed police force in the plateau of the Qinghai province.There is a positive correlation in the positive coping with factor and the four fields of life quality. There is a negative correlation in passive coping with factor, psychological field and physiological field, among them, the correlation between the passive coping with factor and the environmental field is p＜0.01, but has no significant correlation with physiological field and social field.(3) The correlation analysis in personality characteristics and life quality of the armed police force in the plateau of the Qinghai province.There is a negative correlation in nervousness dimension and the four fields of life quality, among them, the correlation between the nervousness dimension and the psychological field (r=-0.46) and the physiological field (r=-0.41) have a close correlation. The interior and exterior dimension and the four fields of the lift quality have an obvious positive correlation, among them, has a close correlation with physiological field.5. The regressive analysis of social support, coping style, personality characteristics and quality of life for the armed police soldier at high altitude(1) The multiple gradual regressive analysis of the QOL for the armed police soldier in the physiological fieldThe results from the multiple gradual regressive analysis indicated that neuroticism characteristics, social support and introversion-extroversion were main factors influencing QOL in the physiological fields for the armed police soldier at high altitude. The multiple coefficient of correlation for the regressive equation was 0.475 and the coefficient of determination was 0.225, which explained that 22.5 percent of environmental variation was determined by the changes of above three factors.(2) The multiple gradual regressive analysis of the QOL for the armed police soldier in the psychological fieldThe results from the multiple gradual regressive analysis indicated that neuroticism characteristics, social support and introversion-extroversion were main factors influencing QOL in the psychological field for the armed police soldier at high altitude. The multiple coefficient of correlation of this regressive equation was 0.503 and the coefficient of determination was 0.253, which explained that 25.3 percent of environmental variation was determined by the changes of above three factors.(3) The multiple gradual regressive analysis of the QOL for the armed police soldier in the social fieldAccording to the standardized regression coefficient, active coping factor, neuroticism characteristics and support outside the family were main factors influencing QOL in the social field for the armed police soldier at high altitude. The multiple coefficient of correlation of this regressive equation was 0.423 and the coefficient of determination was 0.179, which explained that 17.9 percent of environmental variation was determined by the changes of above three factors.(4) The multiple gradual regressive analysis of the QOL for the armed police soldier in the environmental field.According to the standardized regression coefficient, active coping factor, neuroticism characteristics and support outside the family were main factors influencing QOL in the environmental field for the armed police soldier at high altitude. The multiple coefficient of correlation of this regressive equation was 0.432 and the coefficient of determination was 0.287, which explained that 28.7 percent of environmental variation was determined by the changes of above three factors.Conclusions1. The scores of hundred-mark system in the four domains of physiology, psychology, social relationship and the environment for the armed police soldier at high altitude all exceeded 50, which demonstrated their QOL was above the middle level. Among them, the highest score was in the physiological field, while the lowest score was in the environmental field.2. To compare the measurement indexes of the armed police soldiers between at high altitude and in the inner places of China, the former have the lower scores in the physiological field and psychological field.3. The condition of energy, sleep and rest, positive perception, the chance of getting knowledge and skill and recreational activities, et al may affect the QOL for the armed police soldiers at high altitude.4.There is a close correlation between social support and QOL, and the favorable social support can facilitate the improvement of QOL for the armed police soldiers at high altitude.5. The different coping styles may affect the QOL for the armed police soldiers at high altitude. The QOL levels will be elevated by adopting the positive coping style and reducing the negative coping style.6. The introversion-extroversion of the personality characteristics QOL for the armed police soldiers at high altitude is obviously higher than that for the inner army and the man in the whole country, which demonstrate the armed police soldiers at high altitude have the broad-minded disposition and the active state. And the extroversion of personality has a positive effect to the physiological field of the QOL for the armed police soldiers at high altitude. Their emotion is obvious lower than that in the inner army and the man of the whole country, showing the armed police soldiers at high altitude has a stable emotion, and the stable emotion is an important factor influencing the mental health for the armed police soldiers at high altitude.7. The effective ways to improve QOL for the armed police soldiers at high altitude are to explore the social support positively, to face the frustration correctly, to lower the negative coping style, to choose the coping mechanism reasonably, to consummate personality and keep the emotion stable, et al. It is also deserved to be noted that the correct and reasonable arrangement of the rest and work time, the lower occurrence rate of drill hurt of the soldiers, the attention to cultivate the positive emotion of the soldiers, the properly increased recreational activities and the supply of the chance to receive training and study, et al. all have an important significance to improve the QOL for the armed police soldiers at high altitude.
